Romeo Void was one of the cool San Francisco bands of the 80's. fronted by the wonderful Debora Iyall.

Debora Iyall is best known as the lead singer and lyricist of Romeo Void, a San Francisco band that mined the sexy veins of new wave music.  Iyall is a fearless performer, a good time party girl one moment, a woman bravely baring the most intimate details of her soul the next.

The newly reinvented version of “A Girl In Trouble (is a temporary thing)” on "Singing Until Sunrise" takes off with an engagingly upbeat feel and lands on a new third verse.   “I’ve expanded the message of encouragement across my years of experience” Debora explains. Other tracks include live band versions of "Wait Out The Storm" and "99"; both compositions from last year's “Stay Strong”, written with producer/composer and guitarist Peter Dunne.   “Letting Go” is a surprising and heartening electronica collaboration with Romeo Void bassist Frank Zincavage and is dedicated to beloved live sound engineer Louie Beeson (Nick Cave, X and Chris Isaac).    

 

The primary recording session was done with her new band composed of talented Bay Area musicians Debora assembled in early 2011. Their energized performances in support of 2010’s “Stay Strong” inspired them to go into the studio with Grammy Award winning Francis Buckley, who produced these sessions. The EP was engineered and mastered by her husband, Patrick Haight. The “Singing Until Sunrise” cover has a painterly look with Debora’s original monotype landscapes. The artwork reflects mood shifts from one side of the EP to another. The decision to offer cd's and downloads and a 12" purple 45-RPM vinyl release “comes from the wishes and hopes of a lot of fans” Debora explains.   “My desire is to put out a truly quality recording that can be appreciated not only for my new musical output but for aesthetic pleasure.”

 

The band on “Singing Until Sunrise” includes: Stev Ohanis on guitar, Dakota Iyall on keyboards, David Wenger on bass, Robert Tucker on drums and Debora Iyall on vocals. Band members from LA's "The Underground Railroad" sing background vocals on "A Girl In Trouble".
