System Restore..My Best Friend

Here is how I avoided a nasty virus.Last night I was minding my own business, searching for some cool Apps to recommend to Shelly B for her new phone. I clicked on a demonstration and was instantaneously hit with something called a Blaster Worm. Why don't the losers who come up with this stuff put their obvious talents to good use? It basically took my computer out of commission until I downloaded some obviously bogus Malware protection. Everything diverted to this virus! Since I couldn't shut down the computer properly without the virus adding itself, I just hit the shut down button and rebooted. Knowing that I would not be able to log on normally,
I tried Safe Mode.
Once I was in I employed something called "System Restore". You will find this buried in the accessories on Windows XP. It essentially turns back time. You are able to tell your computer to reset itself to settings it held in the past, before the virus attached itself. I have used this on 4 different occasions to in the past few years and it has outwitted the bad guys every time.
