Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band added sixteen additional dates in the U.S. and Canada for the fall leg of the 'Wrecking Ball' World Tour, which kicked off August 14 at Boston's Fenway Park.

The tour closed out an 11-week European run at the end of July that included three of the longest shows of Springsteen's career and garnered universal acclaim, being called "gigantic" (Rolling Stone), "thrilling" (The Atlantic) and "the stuff of legend" (Irish Independent).

His shows are always legendary, but this tour has two additional factors that are woven through the fabric that make it especially grand. The first is the state of America today- many songs and much commentary is political in nature- and the concert is just a short time after the election. He’ll have LOTS of fresh material! The second is that it’s the first tour since Clarence died. He was such an important part of the band, that Bruce had to get very creative in how he was ‘replaced’. And he has! There’s a whole horn section now, with Clarence’s nephew on sax. And a very stirring dedication to him as part of the show.

It’s an incredible show- the best in years. I’ve seen it twice already, and it was different but fabulous both times. Highly emotionally charged.

Springsteen wants his audience to leave the arena, as he commands them, with “your back hurting, your voice sore, and your sexual organs stimulated.”

David Remnick, in writing this piece for The New Yorker, says "...many musicians in their grizzled late maturity have an uncertain grasp on their earliest days on the bandstand.

But Springsteen, who is sixty-two and among the most durable musicians since B. B. King and Om Kalthoum, seems to remember every gaudy night, from the moment, in 1957, when he and his mother watched Elvis on “The Ed Sullivan Show”—“I looked at her and I said, ‘I wanna be just . . . like . . . that’ ”—to his most recent exploits as a multimillionaire populist rock star crowd-surfing the adoring masses....

(And) unlike the Rolling Stones, say, who have not written a great song since the disco era and come together only to pad their fortunes as their own cover band, Springsteen refuses to be a mercenary curator of his past. He continues to evolve as an artist, filling one spiral notebook after another with ideas, quotations, questions, clippings, and, ultimately, new songs."
