Childhood friends Jonathon Piere and Jacob Graham began playing together in an electro-pop band called Goat Explosion. After splitting up they both went on to form other groups that were signed to labels. After tiring of their other projects the two formed a new less electronic indie pop band, the Drums, adding Connor Hanwick as the drummer. Their second album, Portamento, came out 09/02.
