At the Record Store 10/25

October 25, 2011, 8:16 am

It's a big week for new music with some well-known artists releasing new albums.  Here are my reasons for you to stop by a local record store this week ~Jason Miller:

Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto: New Coldplay!  Today!  I will be writing a full album review this week, so keep on eye on the KINK website.

Deer Tick - Divine Providence: These guys have a dirty sound.  Not that kind of dirty, get your mind out of the gutter.  Dirty like someone dropped the pristine final recordings for Deer Tick on the ground, and kicked them around in the dirt.  They range from dirty folk, to straight up dirty rock (Ramones style).  It all sounds good to me!  By the by, they're playing in Portland at the Mission Theater on Nov. 5.

John Prine - The Singing Mailman Delivers: This isn't new music, per say, but like watching a re-run on tv that you've never seen before... it's new to me!  This are some archived recordings that I imagine were laying around a studio somewhere.  Some date back to the 70s.  Should be awesome.

Mumford and Sons - Live From Shepherd's Bush Empire: A live album from a notoriously strong live band.  This has live versions of songs that you've heard on KINK like "Roll Away Your Stone" and "Little Lion Man," along with deeper tracks that are equally enjoyable.  Raise a pint!
