Congratulations to the Portland Metro area! We were recently ranked 7th in Smart Growth America’s survey of walkable big cities. Washington D.C. topped the list followed by New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago and Seattle. Portland ranked in the top of the second tier and it’s interesting to note that they found 90 percent of our walkable urban space is concentrated within the central city. Metro areas scoring higher had more walkable areas in their suburbs. Are you a walker? Read more about foot traffic.
