Around The World Cooking Series

 

Unique Catering presents Around The World Cooking Series. Each Sunday afternoon, you’re invited to expand your knowledge of global cuisine.

Each event will be held as a classroom-type experience, where you’ll be able to enjoy foods being prepared in real time. Featured local chefs will guide you through the process, and each course will be served to you, enabling you to learn while savoring cooking from around the world.

FOODS OF SPAIN
June 3, 2012, 2pm-5pm at Trident Room

Menu: paella, croquettes, gazpacho, crema catalana. Wine pairings included.

Curriculum: Brief Mediterranean history/ saffron/ bomba rice/ Cataluna/ paella tradition/ Spanish wine making/ demonstration of cooking techniques.

Menu: white truffle and ricotta raviolis, anti pasta, caprese salad, tiramisu. Wine pairings included.

Curriculum: pasta making/ olive oils/ tomato varietals/ Mediterranean history/ demonstration of cooking techniques.

NW CUISINE
June 17, 2012, 2pm-5pm at Kitchen Cru.

Menu: NW oysters on the half shell, fried oysters with polenta cake, baby shrimp sauce and micro greens, rabbit and wild mushroom ragout with summer vegetables, fresh hazelnut cake.

Curriculum: oyster varietals/ oyster shucking/ NW bounty of local products and farmers/ Slow food revolution/ demonstration of cooking techniques.

SUSHI AND JAPAN

Menu: sushi/ sashimi/ seaweed salad/ sweet and savory dessert. Saki pairings included.

Curriculum: seaweed varietals/ sushi rice cookery/ raw fish varietals/ endangered species, sustainability/ sake brewing/ sashimi history/ Green Tea/ Japanese table side vocabulary.
