Over-packaged organic foods

Go into many grocery stores and you’ll find a growing selection of organic produce. The organics sector is growing four times faster than conventional agriculture. And that’s great news for all of us. What’s frustrating is that organic produce is more likely to be packaged in plastic. So while you’re purchasing produce grown sustainably, you’re ending up with non-recyclable, single-use packaging. A group of environmental activists are petitioning the USDA to come up with alternative packaging rules. The petition will be presented to the National Organic Standards Board later this month. I’ve got a link to the story with the petition at kink dot fm.
