Plastic.  It can be a life saver, yet it has a dark side and there’s way too much of it. We’ve become addicted to its convenience. And the numbers are staggering. In 2013, Americans generated 33 million tons of plastics, yet we only recycled 9 percent of it . All of that plastic buried deep in landfills can leach harmful chemicals into groundwater. 500 billion plastic bags are used globally with more than one million bags used every 60 seconds. The answer is easy. Stop buying disposable plastic junk, that includes bottled waters. It’s time to invest in reusable bags, bottles and mugs to reduce our waste.
